About Chris
Hi, I'm Chris — I've called Seattle home for over 12 years, and this house was once my own before we converted it to a short and medium-term rental. It's a place I genuinely love, and I hope you feel that.
I work in tech and have a soft spot for making things run smoothly — you'll see that in the smart home integrations throughout the house. Outside of work, I love hiking and exploring the Pacific Northwest. The landscape photography on the walls is mine: scenes from trails and natural wonders across Washington and beyond.
Traveling beyond Seattle? I'm happy to share recommendations — just reach out through your booking app.
Getting In
Entry & Parking
Plenty of free street parking is available along N 47th St right out front. The home also has a private carport attached to the rear — accessible via the alley behind the property.
Porch light switch (rightmost) — please keep it in the ON position
- Both front and rear doors auto-lock after approximately one minute — make sure you have your code when you step out
- If a door lock is ever unresponsive, message us — we can arrange a physical key from the front lockbox as a dead-battery backup
Internet
WiFi
There's also a framed QR code in the living room — point your phone camera at it to connect instantly.
Climate
Heating & Cooling
First Floor — Radiant Floor Heating
Controlled by the dial above the light switch. Radiant heat warms slowly — that's normal. Set it and leave it rather than toggling frequently, which stresses the system. The first floor tends to stay naturally cooler than the upper floors even in warm weather.
Living Room & Main Bedroom — Mini-Splits
Each room has three ways to control the unit:
Wall remote
Cielo Breeze smart device
- Wall remote in each room
- Cielo Breeze smart device mounted on the wall next to the unit
- Alexa voice commands: "Alexa, turn on/off living room AC" · "Alexa, turn on/off bedroom AC" · "Alexa, set AC to 72 Fahrenheit"
Third Floor North Bedroom
Electric wall heater for warmth. A tower fan lives in the closet for warm days.
First Floor Bedroom
A fan is stored in the closet, though this room tends to be the coolest in the house.
Technology
Smart Home
Lights and temperature can be controlled by voice throughout the home. Each room has an Amazon Echo device localized to its own lights:
- "Alexa, turn on/off the lights"
- "Alexa, set the temperature to 70 degrees"
Prefer not to use it? Just press the mute button on the Echo in your room.
Motorized Blinds — Living Room
Select shade, then press ▲ or ▼
Select the shade (Left, Mid, or Right) on the wall switch, then press ▲ or ▼ to raise or lower.
Motorized Blinds — Main Bedroom
Lutron Pico remote — on the nightstand
Use the up or down button on the Pico remote on the nightstand. If any blind is unresponsive, please let us know and we'll arrange a battery swap.
Outdoor Space
Rooftop Patio
One of our favorite spots in the house — sunsets up there are something else.
- Please cover the outdoor furniture after use, especially if rain is expected (this is Seattle, so: likely)
- String lights: the switch is the black knob on the outlet next to the AC unit
- Grill: one propane tank is connected with a backup in the storage box. If both run dry, the 76 station one block away (map) does refills
Entertainment
TVs & Streaming
We don't offer cable, but every TV supports two options: sign in to streaming apps with your own subscriptions, or cast directly from your phone — just make sure you're on the Fremont Bliss WiFi first (iOS and Android both work).
- Living room: 65" LG Roku TV — remote in the media console; soundbar volume runs through the Roku remote
- First floor bedroom: 32" Roku TV — remote on the nightstand
- Third floor bedroom: 50" LG Smart TV with built-in apps
Food & Drink
Coffee & Kitchen
- Coffee: a drip machine is set out on the counter; a French press is in the cabinet if that's your style. Filters and ground coffee are stored in the cabinet above.
- Kitchen: fully stocked — pots, pans, knives, and basics like oil, salt, and pepper
- Dishwasher: please pre-rinse dishes to prevent clogs. It may show an error code at end of cycle — safe to ignore; dishes air-dry
- Fridge: works great — no water or ice dispenser on this model
Third Floor
Laundry
Washer and dryer are on the third floor. Detergent and softener are in the laundry closet. Please leave the washer door open after use to prevent moisture buildup.
Traveling with Little Ones
Family Amenities
A Graco Pack 'n Play is stored in the walk-in closet attached to the south-facing bedroom on the third floor. It's an easy pop-up setup — no tools needed. Please collapse and return it to the closet before checkout.
Recycling & Waste
Trash, Recycling & Compost
Seattle uses a three bin system. The compost bin (small black container) hangs on the inside of the cabinet door under the kitchen sink, and the recycling bin is in the same cabinet. If either fills up during your stay, the large collection bins are at the back of the house next to the carport.
| Bin | What goes in |
|---|---|
| Garbage (black) | Anything not recyclable or compostable |
| Recycling (blue) | Clean paper, cardboard, glass, cans, rigid plastics — no plastic bags or food-soiled items |
| Compost (green) | All food scraps (including meat and bones), pizza boxes, paper towels |

Slow Shower Drain
A drain cover remover lives under the third floor bathroom sink (circled in green below). Use it to lift the drain cover and clear any hair buildup if water pools.
